You upload a clear photo of the hero and choose a story. We draw them once in that book’s house style and ask whether it looks like them. If it doesn’t, we can draw it again twice, or you can send a different photo. Only after you say yes do we illustrate the pages, into a story written by people. You read the whole book free and approve it before anything is printed.

A look inside

That night it was still too warm to sleep, and the fan whirred round and round. Just after midnight, Maya heard sleigh bells in the backyard. Then came another sound: a long, tired puff, like a bicycle pump that had given up.

Santa came out from behind the shed in board shorts, a flowery shirt and the floppy sun hat, with the whitest knees Maya had ever seen. 'Sunscreen,' said Maya firmly, and drew a white stripe down his nose. Santa grinned. 'I feel ten years younger.'

At sunset, the sand was cool at last and the sea had turned pink. Maya stood at the edge of the water, crown slipping, and looked up. Far away, a tiny sleigh crossed the sky, and someone in red board shorts waved a sun hat. Maya waved back until it was gone.

About this story
Christmas Eve is the hottest day of the year, and Santa lands in a thick red wool suit. So the hero gets to work: a garden hose for the reindeer, board shorts off the washing line, and a stripe of sunscreen down Santa's nose. For everyone whose Christmas comes with sunscreen.
The hero is drawn into all thirteen spreads, told at their reading level: 2–4, 4–6 or 6–8. Add a brother or sister, a pet and a home town, and each one finds a place in the story.
For printed books. Delivery time is additional.
